Digital Boost for DWTC and GISEC – Flexible and Secure

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is the central trade fair venue in the Middle East. With its wide range of trade fairs, congresses, and events, it is recording growth in visitor and exhibitor numbers. One of its successful trade fairs is the Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC), which continues this positive trend. GISEC is the most important trade fair for digital security in the Middle East. From 23 to 25 April 2024, DWTC welcomed the participants with strong digitalisation upgrades and fast trade fair entries.

Challenges

Challenges of the GISEC

To make the GISEC an experience and manage the participants, the DWTC needed smart technologies, secure digitalisation, and automated processes. To this end, ADITUS was commissioned to design a more modern and flexible ticket purchasing process. Participants were to be offered more flexible payment options. Due to the constantly growing size of the event, it was also necessary to digitalise admission and badge printing to finally make Print@Home badges a thing of the past. But what would a security trade fair be without appropriate security for its event? The monitoring of content-sensitive meetings and sessions was particularly relevant. Automated access restriction and tracking options were required for this.

Solutions

Our Solutions for GISEC

Payment boost for the GISEC: Apple Pay has been added to the payment options for a quick and uncomplicated process – regardless of the ticket. Whether online or on site: payment is contactless, secure, and reliable! By expanding the payment process, we modernised the ticket purchasing process and were able to offer more flexibility.

Previously, participants went to the entrance with their Print@Home ticket, scanned it, and received a plastic sleeve. They then folded the ticket, put it in the plastic sleeve and hung it around their neck. The result: lots of steps, queues in the entrance area and additional plastic waste. But the days of Print@Home badges are over! We were setting new standards with our unique technology: GISEC 2024 participants benefited from the new entrance with automated badge printing as a one-stop solution in under three seconds. Scan the digital ticket and remove the freshly printed badge. No Print@Home, no folding, no plastic sleeves! This saves time and material and leads to an intuitive admission flow. Future DWTC events with increasing visitor numbers will also benefit from the innovative technology.

All participants were registered by our admission controls when they entered the GISEC. This gave the organiser an overview of who was on the exhibition grounds and who had already left. As an additional security measure, all persons were digitally registered by the Mobile Supervisors when entering and leaving high-security meetings. The necessary access authorisation was stored on the badge: the complex QUICODE contains all the registration data of a visitor, so access was only granted with the appropriate authorisation. The persons recorded in this way, including their attendance time, could be viewed live or retrospectively by the organiser in the Organiser Portal.

Conclusion

‘Security’ is not only in the name of GISEC: from admission to high-security meetings, we have introduced high security standards and at the same time created a good admission flow. We look forward to more exciting DWTC trade fairs and GISEC 2025!
